Happy 23rd Jaren!

Jaren is officially 23 years old! We celebrated by heading down to St. George for Memorial Day Weekend. We kicked off the weekend on a great foot... Jaren and I were driving down to St. George, swapping first date stories when I heard something big hit the back right wheel well. I thought, "Wow that was a big rock..." and we kept on driving. Only a couple seconds later, we heard the awful sound of a flat tire flopping on the road. We pulled over as fast as we could, but when you are going 80 mph, it takes a few seconds. Jaren and I hopped out and Jaren started changing the tire. I was glad he was there, I probably would have died. I was somewhat terrified being on the side of the road and seeing all those cars (and HUGE semis) barrel right on by us... I was surprised to see some physiology taking place... I think my adrenaline was going a little because I was shaking all over! I could just see a car smashing into us at any second... Jaren, however was not quite as useless as I was in this situation and got the spare tire on pretty fast, and we were soon back on the road going super slow on our doughnut tire. Luckily, it was still light enough for Jaren to be able to see, and again, luckily we made it into Beaver right about 9:45 as the tire shop was getting ready to close. Two new tires and less a few dollars later, we were back on the road going eighty and made it to St. George in no time.

The super active Sandberg family was up and going early the next morning. Jaren and Blake were off scrambling up cliffs in Snow Park, and I was out in the sun with JeriDell and Jay for a 6 mile walk around town. I only got sunburned a little, and tried to hide it from Jay, but of course he noticed it right off. :) Jaren and Blake had fun on their "scramble" up Snow Canyon also. In one spot they referred to as the "birthing canal," they had to shimmy up a super steep narrow spot and climb out of a small hole. Jaren almost lost his shorts, but thanks to Blake, made it up in one piece. It sounds like they had a good time!

After our exercises we all went out to lunch at Applebee's! It was great. We also made a trip up to Cedar City to visit Grandpa Sandberg. It was fun to see him and talk to him for a while. We visited Grandma Sandberg's headstone and found some other family while we were there.

Jay cooked up some steaks for lunch on Jaren's birthday, and JeriDell made an awesome cake. We had tons of good food and LOTS of delicious cake and ice cream. Jaren's friends came over for a few minutes to wish him a happy birthday. Jaren really cashed in this birthday. He got some camping gear, clothes, new basketball shoes, and his car cleaned and detailed. What a lucky kid! I got some new shoes too though, so I can't be jealous... Thanks again!!

On our way home, we stopped in Gunnison to visit my dad. It was fun to see him and the boys talked alot about cars. Good thing there was a cute baby around for me to watch while they talked... :) We stopped at my mom's new house on the way home also. They are definitely still moving in, but are making progress. They finally made it out of their storage units!! Way to go Mom!

Oh, and we found a creepy spider and had to take pictures of it. Sick!
