Movie Reviews!

So as you can see from previous posts, we have a pretty technologically advanced apartment now. We are huge fans of Netflix "watch instantly" option. So far we have seen some pretty awesome movies from Netflix. Jaren loves watching movies and always watches the making of the movies and special features so he knows ALOT about movies. Here are some of the movies we have watched recently and a brief review if you need some movie suggestions.

1. Coraline: Cute, somewhat creepy story of a girl who moves into a new house and discovers a portal into her same house that is inhabited by her "other" mother and father who have button eyes. It was probably a little too scary for little kids, but I would definitely recommend it. Watch for the part with the large woman. You will know what I'm talking about when you see it. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

2. Ben Hur: A seemingly 10 hour drama from the 1950's. It won a ton of Academy Awards and "would have been way cool in the fifties." Ok, so I only watched the last half hour, but Jaren was thoroughly entertained. It does have a cool chariot race.

3. The Ring: A great movie for Halloween. We enjoyed watching it at the Stewart/Cahoon home in Brigham City. It is definitely creepy and the green faces always make me cringe. Not as scary as I remembered it being... but watch out for flies on your tv screen!

4. Groundhog Day: A delightful comedy about a man forced to relive Groundhog's day over and over until he gets over himself and finds love. Morbidly funny to see all the ways Bill Murray kills himself and his strategies to move in on women. I wish I could FIND that Polka music they play over and over....

5. Water World: If you haven't seen this movie, you probably aren't missing much, but I was strangely intrigued. Polar Ice caps have melted, flooding the whole world. The story follows a mutated fish man as he rescues a little girl with a tatooed map on her back that leads to "dry land". It took me a while to figure out what was going on, but it was an interesting and sickly entertaining... It was one of those movies you know you shouldn't enjoy, but for some strange reason you do... It was a huge flop of a movie that cost a TON... But possibly worth a watch :)

6. Spies Like Us: Honestly I don't remember what even happened in this one. I fell asleep pretty quick. Something about government worker rejects who get assigned to a mission as decoys? I'll have to watch it when I'm not tired because apparently its pretty funny.

7. Wolverine: Very impressive. I stayed awake the whole time! The girl in it is pretty and has really big eyebrows.

8. Monsters vs Aliens: When I saw the preview for this movie, I thought I would never see it because it looked stupid, but it is really funny. It has a lot of Shrek-like one liners. Hugh Laurie does the voice of the mad scientist cockroach. I had fun imagining Dr. House talking like that and doing that evil cackle... Its a fun mental image. Also enjoyed the blue blob man and the giant ... hamster bug?

9. The Grudge: ... We didn't finish this movie. I didn't get past the freaky cat, and pale Asian boy with a dark mouth who makes creepy noises and sneaks up on people to kill them. Honestly screamed and uncontrollably tried to crawl behind Jaren so he could protect me. I think he was a little freaked out too...

We have watched lots of other "rad" movies. I think this is enough suggestions for now. I think Twilight or some other SWEET musical is up next. Jaren's gonna love it. Those are his favorite. :) If you have any others you think we'll like let us know!!

Bored Bored Bored...

So as I was sitting in the TSC computer lab contemplating my boredom, I found myself repeatedly going back to that website... The one I hate to admit I am addicted to. Facebook. Why do I look forward to those little red notifications at the bottom of the page like they are Christmas presents? Why is there this strange desire to sit and look at hundreds of other peoples pictures? Its my addiction, such a sweet little word.... I also really enjoy this little cartoon for some reason. I think the real question is why do I have nothing else to do?! I need a hobby. I'll let you know when I find one. :)

Remember the lyrics from Napolean Dynamite,

".....Yes, I love technology
But not as much as you, you see
But I still love technology
Always and forever...."

I am still trying to convince Callie of the lines, " But not as much as you, you see." This Post begins a month or so ago when I convinced Callie that we needed to upgrade our television (It was a small television that was on loan via Matt and Avree). Callie was "okay" with the idea because I told her I estimated $400 for the television.

Once I started going to Best Buy every single day for about two weeks I couldn't help but look at the much bigger and better flat screen TV's. Also the need for a computer convinced Callie to let the number rise to $1000 for both the TV and the Computer.

To make a long story shorter, I pleaded for more money (which was helped by Callie getting a $1000 grant. We got the computer first and then the television! I thought that would be the end of my hassles but then we figured out that our plugs in our house weren't grounded.

It wasnt that hard but Callie and I had fun spelunking inside our apartment!

We had to go underneath to attach a ground wire to some outlets.

In one part Callie was below our apartment and I was above and I heard her yell and she was scaring herself and looking out for mice or dead people.....

It was actually all very fun.
Then came rearanging the furniture.......which took forever!!!!!!!!! We tried different scenarios and I moved the furniture around like 5 times!
This was our first attempt (as you can see the chair looks nice but where will the Computer desk go?
This is a much better fit for the chair, and I thought Callie would hate it but she quite likes it! (or at least she is a good faker!)
This is the final set up all together and it took plenty of time moving it around! The surround sound cables were a pain to set up. (also my hard drive crashed so Best Buy gave us a new one= more wires and set up)

Because everything is so nice and cozy, we decided to invite my sisters families over for Calzones!

THE END

I don't really know why these are so small... But once we can, I will upload more and bigger pictures!
Gonna play a little random catch up here with some pictures!

Jaren and I were going to go to the football game a few weeks ago, but last minute decided we didn't want to go. After about an hour of debating about what to do, we decided we would get some exercise and hike up to the windcaves. The leaves were just starting to change colors and the temperature was perfect! We are only a little out of shape, so the lungs only burnt a little as we hiked up. Competitiveness kicked in for a few seconds and we raced for a few feet, but we were both soon out of breath and decided it didn't matter who got to the top first. We made it to the top and took this awesome picture.

We have decided that since we both love pizza so much, every Friday night is pizza night. This is a picture of our first pizza. We also made Foccocia ( I really don't know how to spell that ) bread. While making this pizza we both discovered that sometimes it is a bad time for both of us to be in the kitchen trying to make something at the same time. . . But the pizza was good and so was the bread!

One night Jaren and I were in our apartment and I was in a really bad mood. To try to get me to smile he sang me an awesome song about tractors. One day there was a tractor on campus and we HAD to get a picture with it. :) We even matched it! How perfect.
